Slab Leak – A Recent Call for Help

What We Want to Prevent from Happening

This recently came in from a California homeowner:

“Appears to be a leak in our slab foundation. Floor tiles suddenly began to feel warm in certain areas. Within a day or two, baseboards began pulling away from a section of wall and carpet is wet (most of the flooring is travertine tile). I have turned off the main water supply. I have no running water in the house.”  G.J. – Murrieta, California

The best way to handle a slab leak is to prevent it by by-passing the slab with a repipe before the damage is done.

If that opportunity is missed (as above) definitely do the repipe by-pass immediately.  This will fix the situation permanently and is the most economical approach.  To tear up the slab and fix each leak as it pops up can turn into a nightmare of repairs, one after another.

After Getting Our Third Slab Leak …

E.J. – Manhattan Beach, California

Thank you for doing an excellent job on repiping our home.  After getting our third slab leak in a home that was built about 12 years ago, it was time to bypass the existing “faulty” pipes.

Your estimator walked us through what was going to be required and the work was scheduled quickly within a couple of days after signing the contract.

Vigen and his crew of 3 other repiping specialists arrived on time every day and were able to work around several obstacles after opening the walls and ceilings.

In addition to bypassing the slab leak, the volume of water to our upstairs shower is markedly improved compared to before.  For a fairly large 2-story home with 7 sinks, 4 toilets, 3 showers and 1 tub, the repipe work was completed in 2.5 days as estimated.

We were impressed that George and Boris (wall patching specialists) arrived within a couple of hours after we passed the city’s first inspection.  They were able to patch the many interior and exterior holes restoring the walls and ceilings in 2 days.

Thank you for doing an outstanding job!

Our House Developed a Major Slab Leak

M.D. – Los Angeles, California

The purpose of this letter is to comment on the experience my family has recently had with MasterServ as a result of an unexpected plumbing issue at our home.

Our house developed a major slab leak, and the resulting evaluation by our insurance company and their experts determined that we were not covered by insurance, and this would be a messy and costly repair job.  Research lead us to decide to replumb the whole house, as we expect to live here a long time, and any temporary fix would probably result in future leaks and repeat expenses.

After interviewing other companies, we decided on MasterServ.  It was the numerous premium materials and services that were offered, including a lifetime guaranty and the fact that the patching was included, that convinced us to go with MasterServ.

Initially we were cautious but hopeful, but in retrospect we were very impressed and satisfied with everyone at Masterserv that we dealt with.  Most important of all, we are very happy with the finished product.

Once the work began, Vigen and his associate were extremely professional, cordial and did an excellent job of repiping the house.  Then Sasun came in and did a great job of completing all of the drywall patching in 2 days.

All communications with MasterServ while the job was in progress were handled promptly and professionally by Larry ( the smart one ), Larry ( the good-looking one ) and the rest of the staff.

Now that  our house is back to normal, I can’t even tell that all of that work was done.  We would recommend MasterServ for repiping to anyone who wants  premium materials and services.
